But if you don’t know her, let me share a bit about this amazing instructor…

This is a new retreat format for Jenny and we will be using 2 different lodgings during our time in Sicily, moving from the first to the second as we make our way around the island, taking in the incredible sites and cities. Sicily is home to seven UNESCO Heritage sites and we will be seeing some of them on our day trips.
During your retreat if you are an early riser, you’ll be able to participate in dynamic morning stretches with Jenny or possibly a meander around the grounds. Breakfast is included every day, after which Jenny will lead the group in 1-2 hours of classes which can include low impact aerobics, senior boot camp, boxing, line dancing, yoga, meditation, and more.
Afterwards, perhaps after a shower or a quick dip in the pool, we will grab a quick, healthy bite to tide us over on our hop to one of the villages on out route. Once there, you may choose to explore, shop, sightsee or, indulge in a larger lunch. Each day will provide a new place to visit along with discovery of the history and specialties of that village or town.

One of the most famous spots is Mount Etna. Initially we will be staying in that area, famous for its wines. We will have a lunch and wine-tasting (included in your adventure) along with a tour of L’Etna (as she is known by the locals). We’ll ride up in the gondola and if you like, you can hike further up to the crater.
Another day, we will be spending time in Taormina, known for its world-famous Film Fest. It rests atop a mountain and the drive up and around the winding road will set you to wondering how the Greeks ever managed to build something so high up! While there we will visit the ancient Greek and Roman Theatre, in addition to the public gardens. But it may actually be the panoramic view of the sea below that most captures your heart.

We will learn about the history of Sicily, it’s Greek and Roman settlers and see some of the archaeological finds at the park and museum at Giardini Naxos. We will travel along the coastline and visit Siracusa and the Island of Ortigia. We will also visit Noto, home of the annual Flower Fest, where the streets are covered with intricate floral murals made up of BILLIONS of fresh flower petals for only a weekend, once a year.
We’ll next relocate to the area around Ragusa. We will take in Modica known for its chocolates and oils and of course (!) we will have to have a tasting (perhaps several!). Sicily is also known for its ceramics, so we will be visiting Caltagirone, and touring one of their famous ceramics studios.
But the last and grand finale will be out trip to Agrigento, the Valley of the Temples, where you will walk among beautifully preserved Greek temples that have stood the test of time and are now ours to marvel at and wonder about. Make sure you have your camera charged up especially for this day!
As mentioned, this is a new format for Jenny’s retreat in a new location. What we have planned for you is morning stretches (optional) and after-breakfast workouts combined with fun afternoon excursions to see and experience all the beauty that Sicily has to offer. Since we will not be staying in our usual agriturismo, with our dear chef Eufemia (if you’ve been with us before, you know and love her!), there will be several meals over the course of the retreat that will be ala carte (not included). They will be your choice and always at very reasonable prices, since most visitors want to indulge in the gastronomic offerings and specialties available in Sicily.
