Glad to see you are interested in joining us! Here’s additional information about this next Monumental Cemetery tour with Tui Snider.
This is our most expansive Monumental Cemetery tour to date. We have added 2 more cities to our program this year and will be visiting some of the previous favorites as well.
We will meet up in Florence early on Tuesday, May 19 at the Peretola Airport. We will start off towards Pisa, about an hour and a half’s drive. In Pisa we will see the Leaning Tower and the Baptistry, in addition to the Cemetery, famous for its frescoes.
After a light lunch we will head to our first stop at Genoa. We will spend 2 nights there and our days will be filled with the wonders of the amazing Staglieno Cimitero, home of Monteverde’s Resurrection Angel, a statue that is considered the most beautiful cemetery sculpture in the world and as such, has been copied in various countries.
From Genoa we head to Turin, new on our program this year. Again we will have 2 days to explore not just the cemetery, but potentially the Egyptian Museum as well, where we will discover mummies and the Egyptian Death rites practiced thousands of years earlier.
Our next stop is beautiful Milan, where we will spend 3 days. There is so much to see in Milan in addition to the incredible Monumental Cemetery. We will visit the Milan Cathedral where you can walk on the roof overlooking the city below and have a close up view of the carved figures and architectural details. We will also visit the Ossuary of Saint Bernadino. If you have never seen anything like this, you will be intrigued and amazed. (Pictures, but no flash, are allowed.)
Next on our tour is bella Bologna. We will see the Cemetery and enjoy the cuisine that this city is famous for.
We wind out our adventure by returning to Florence, a cultural feast in itself. We’ll take in the overlook of the city, the Monumental Cemetery and the Cimitero Anglaise (English Cemetery) as well.
While making this tour, we will stay in comfortable, clean hotels. All breakfasts will be provided as well as 5 dinners and 2 lunches. We’ll have opportunities to relax, wander and savor the experiences.
It’s important to have comfortable walking shoes and a flexible attitude. Unexpected weather can occur and dampen our agenda. We just have to not let it dampen our adventurous spirits.
