Your Home in France

On your art holiday, you will stay in one of the loveliest areas of France, the Lot region. Your home-away-from-home will be in the rural village of Larnagol, on the River Lot, a tiny village full of charm and history.

Dominique’s gite is a beautifully remodeled 200+ year old farmhouse, that has been transformed by both she and her master craftsman husband, Eric. A former teacher herself, Dom will be our resource and guide in the surrounding areas. She will also be serving up her homemade preserves at breakfast and welcomes you to watch as she makes a regional specialty, walnut tart, in her large, open kitchen.

Dominique’s is separated into different apartments, each with separate kitchens, dining, and sitting areas as well as several bedrooms. They are spacious, pristine and new, blending the Olde World with the new in the tasteful decorations and furnishings. The above pictures are some of the rooms available; all are equally charming.

Outside you are surrounded by the garden and yard, with several quiet seating areas for reflection. Beyond the yard stretches the farmland and river valley, rising to the hills. A short walk down the lane brings you to Dom’s private beach on the river Lot, where you will enjoy a special evening barbecue, under the Chateau de Cenevieres.

I participated in the 2015 May Chris Bart Workshop as a “non-artist” along for the chance to see France. Lisa and hostess, Dom, surpassed all expectations in food (gluten free for me), day trip sights, personal charms, and keeping a perfect rhythm in each day. I highly recommend these accommodations set in a quaint rural area within a short walk to the Lot River, three ancient villages, and even a castle with owner Patrick happy to guide you through and share its history. A daily picnic lunch complete with wine and local fare along a flowing river in a new spot each day was a favorite of mine. So many pictures to capture for painting once home. The biggest surprise to me and my traveling companions is that I began to paint and continue to explore that new path gathering weekly with other painters and I get private lessons from the very talented Chris Bart. There will be wonderful memories and new friendships if you join one of Lisa’s trips. I suggest you do! Who knows where it will take you in your life’s journey. Say ” yes” to a fabulous opportunity to discover the depth of your talent in an “old world.”
